Alex Christensen - Angel of Darkness Lyrics Meaning

In my opinion. I have been listening to this song and various remixes of this song since i was a child, i am 20 now. The lyrics still hit and stay relevant to my life. How I interprate this song and it's lyrics are like this.
Yasmin sings about a dark angel who has taken over the world and that she won't bow down, she stays up and fight. That's basically the basic lyrical structure. How it feels for me is that the lyrics about the angel of darkness is about our shadow self, the part of self we neglect, our dark side, bad side, animal side who constantly wants to seek out control and take over our life. "The world is in your hands but i will fight until the end."

We will always have some sort of conflict with our two selves as long as we exist. Because good cannot exist without evil. And vice versa. This song is not about fighting an external enemy/entity with the sole purpose of taking over the physical world. It's about our own demons trying to take over our world by low self esteem, self sabotagement, toxic habits etc. And how we as "the fighters" will always be at war with ourselves to not let the darkness win.

In another remix she sings:
"Hunt. Goes on. Deep in the night. Time to pray. You cannot escape the eternal light. Until my last breath i will fight." Darkness can never win from light, because the light always shines through. The hunt is about our sole quest of finding external validation to deal with our internal conflict as people. Deep in the night refers to the shadow self we don't want others to see. Time to pray is when we finally submit to our shadow self. You cannot escape the light is the realisation that the darkness will never win, neither will the light. We always be at war with good v.s evil. Until my last breath i will fight refers to one's endurance to keep on living life meanwhile they're dealing with their pain and struggles.

Also this song can relate to the Teen Titans character Raven. Who is half demon, half human and battles with herself to try and do good for humanity knowing her destiney is basically to destroy humanity. But she never gave in and learned how to control herself and help people with all she can and all she has. She never submits to the dark. Even though she is dark, she keeps saving others.

For me it meant that i can give into my nature but not let the darkness consume me. Rather, be come with the darkness and understand yourself so you can improve yourself and the world around you.
