Janice was born on September 3, 1951, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, to Clyde Ehlinger and Ethel Sharp Santai. She grew up in a nurturing environment and developed a strong sense of determination from an early age. Janice attended Nativity High School, where she excelled academically and formed lifelong friendships. Her dedication to education laid the foundation for her future success.

Career and Community Involvement

Janice’s professional journey led her to become a respected medical secretary at Pottsville’s former Good Samaritan Hospital and Dental Clinic. Her exceptional organizational skills and compassionate nature made her an invaluable asset to the healthcare community. Beyond her professional endeavors, Janice was deeply involved in her community. She directed religious education and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Tremont’s Most Blessed Trinity Parish. Her unwavering faith and commitment to serving others touched the lives of many.

Janice’s greatest joy in life came from her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 38 years, Stephen T. Torola, and a loving mother to her two children, Stephen S. and Ethel Mae. Janice cherished the time spent with her four grandchildren, Mikayla, McKenzie, Mika, and Zachary S. Rohland. She also found immense happiness in babysitting her grandson Zachary and her two great-nephews, Wyatt and Lane Malis. Janice’s warm and nurturing presence created a loving and supportive environment for her family.

Outside of her family, Janice had a passion for the beach and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She appreciated the beauty of nature and found solace in the calming waves and sandy shores. Janice also had an appreciation for fine wine and enjoyed exploring different varieties. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident in everything she did.

Janice will be deeply missed by her siblings, Sharon Ehlinger Bradley, Theresa and husband Glenn Gaffney, and Bertrum and wife Diane Ehlinger, as well as her extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Shannon Torola, and sister Emmagene Wagner.
